Days in Puerto Rico with the Sony NEX-5N
Monday, January 9, 2012 at 7:28PM Once again I find myself flying from my native island of Puerto Rico to my home in New York. There are no babies crying on this flight, no one randomly kicking the seat behind me and no angry annoyed flight attendants. It feels like a good opportunity to reflect on my experiences during my stay. With that said I welcome you to see the photos of my days in the island.
The Sony NEX-5N and the 16mm f 2.8
lens presents an interesting solution when im trying to avoid the bulk of a DSLR while preserving the quality of the images.
Also with me I had with me the Nikon D7000 and the Tamron 17-50mm
which were only used during a morning photoshoot which will be posted in a future blog entry.
Continuing the trend of my last blog post, none of the photos are edited, only the in camera presents were used.
My mother who doesn't really enjoy me showing the wisdom hidden behind her eyes
Me and the girlfriend, I tend to ruin a lot of photos making funny faces.
My friend Sheila, who's great at looking all innocent and sweetheart like (ALL LIES!)
I was pleasently surprised by how usable the panorama mode is on a table full of hungry people, just make sure no one moves.
Skirt Steak Pizza..fuck yeah
I wasn't kidding when I said I wanted to relax
Insert keys in table pic here
When arriving at a pub we were welcomed by the band..it's a great feeling to be remembered
Medalla, the local beer
This is my baby girl Sophie, foraging...
and driving
Part of my trip included visiting my cousin in Cabo Rojo, one thing I really like about him is the way he is always hands on with everything, if he wants to make a drink with coconut, he will find the coconuts, open them and serve them. He's also pretty lucky to have an incredible family, as always he remains and inspiration for me.
Pernil with Mofongo stuffing, this tasted so much better than it looks
I've never really enjoyed the being at the beach, the sand gets everywhere and the sun is a unforgiving bastard that loves to find the limits of your skin. Yet, I had the strongest desire to go to visit one, hit the west side of the island where the water is clearer and the sand begs me to lie in it. Close my eyes and remember days when things were much simpler. Pleasures that remind me how good it is to be alive. Playa Sucia was the perfect choice for this.

These cliffs are huge! if you look carefully in the photos you can make out people, that will give you an idea of the size
It's funny how I took for granted the beauties that are all around me living in a tropical island.
I also got the chance to do some photos of my old friend Marien. I'm proud to say that in over five years of friendship she's always been there for any crazy proyect I have in mind.

Finally here's a picture of baby Sooki..soon to be breaking the hearts of many.
Hope you enjoyed the post! let me know your thoughts!

As always, your work is brilliant. I'm actually IN the island and I felt the sorrow of leaving while looking at the images. Looking forward to your next posts.
